PLEASE NOTE

I AM UPDATING PRODUCT BOXES FOR JEWELLERY AND DECORATIONS WHICH WILL TAKE AWHILE, IF YOU PURCHASE YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR ORDER IN THE NEW BOXES AS DESCRIBED BELOW.

Jewellery boxes are made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Jewellery box inserts are made from tall oil, a by-product of wood pulp industry. All paper, card, glue, inks and delivery boxes used are made from recycled materials.

I love collecting things discarded, lost, forgotten, damaged or just not wanted any more. My favourite places are rivers and beaches, but also find great things at recycling centres and charity shops. I’m lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-created into something new. Bits and bobs of lives all waiting to find new homes.

You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.

Additional terms

Hand crafted Jewellery and framed artworks using pre loved and discarded ceramics. Ceramic material will show signs of wear and damage. Entire process is a creative experience from discovery to final picture, nothing planned or preconceived. All materials personally collected from river banks, charity shops, roadside, woods, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each piece comes with a short bio of where the ceramic came from, date found and re-created. Some shards collected are used as found, others are cut randomly which shape the final work. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece.

Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.

Created from ceramic discovered in

Thorsgill Beck, Barnard Castle June 2020

Re-Created into pendant March 2023

June 2020 while out walking Thorsgill Beck which runs into the River Tees, Barnard Castle, Co Durham I came across a small concentration of broken bits of pottery. A common practice of shoring up a river bank is to use hardcore that often has household ceramics crushed in. I love finding bits of pot in rivers, I love the idea of old household unwanted ceramic being used, all those memories. Some bits will remain where dumped but a lot will move with the river which adds to the experience of discovering.

I found a great piece of thick white ceramic with 3 insects on it, in the water it almost looked as if the bugs were actually real, just caught on the piece. When lifted out I saw a dragonfly, an ant and a ladybird. Although I’m used to using tools on all sorts of materials and often predict how it will break, sadly this piece just shattered. Only the little ladybird survived. I decided to keep the piece and put it in my collection of shards named ‘projects’. In March 2023 I came across the ladybird and chanced drilling a hole. Thankfully the shard survived.

The idea is the create something new from old, the finished piece isn’t meant to be perfect or highly polished. Found by chance in a beck 2020 starts again as a pendant 2023.

Hanging on non leather woven cord, 44cm plus 5cm extender.

Pendant measures approximately 20mm x 15mm x 4mm.
