I love to draw and paint wildlife and I spend a lot of time coming up with ideas in my sketchbooks. Recently I have been a little fascinated by magpies so I decided to turn one of my sketches into an art piece. I love the way that fabrics can be used to draw and I can replicate pencil lines with stitches, I also have a draws full of papers that I have collected and wanted to incorporate these into this work.

Magpie framed picture
In this picture I have used a variety of techniques. The magpie has been firstly machine embroidered on a felt background and then hand stitched with embroidery silks, cotton and nylon threads to give texture. I have then used textured papers to collage the background. This has then been mounted in a pale grey frame that can either be wall mounted or free standing.
Picture size 19cm x 14cm
Over all frame 27.5cm x 22.5cm
