I got a wheel cutter from e bay and when it arrived had to try it out... rather pleased with the result, especially the stain and the slightly distressed look... the beech dowel for the axles should be fairly strong, (to me it is an ornament rather than a children's toy... but what child (including the child in me) could resist scooting this along the floor....)...it is probably not suitable for children under 36 months...the wood is pine and could splinter if chewed...

Full description
a wooden car, 230 x 80 x 85 mm, the idea was to use spirit stain to allow the wood grain to show through. The wheels turn and it is finished in "chestnut acrylic lacquer" which is toy safe. (It is probably not suitable for children under 36 months as it is pine wood...so could splinter if chewed), but I see it more as an ornament...it has sat on the shelf in my mancave looking rather cool for a few months now...so thought to offer it out, so I can make some more...
