The Welsh Dragon is the National emblem of Wales.
Being a lover of folklore I find the legend of the Welsh Dragon fascinating.
A red dragon living in Britain was fighting with an invading white dragon. King Lludd, the ruler of Britain, was instructed that to stop the dragons fighting he must dig a pit to contain them both in the centre of Britain. He must fill it with mead and cover it in cloth. They came, drank mead, fell asleep and were imprisoned. Later King Vortigern attempted to build a castle there but the walls and foundations were destroyed overnight. He was advised to find a boy without a natural father and sacrifice him to stop the destruction. The boy told him that the destruction was because of the dragons trapped in the pit. So, Vortigern opened the pit, freed the dragons, who fought, with the red dragon killing the white dragon. The boy then stated the red dragon represented the people he ruled and the white dragon represented the Saxons.

This unusual wooden Welsh Dragon Jigsaw Puzzle, has been upcycled from reclaimed wood. This jigsaw would make a lovely table centerpiece or ornament for Mythological lovers. It would make a perfect gift for numerous occasions such as a Housewarming Gift, Wood Anniversary Gift, a Brother-In-Law Gift, or as a Birthday gift.
The approximate height is 15 cm, the approximate width is 22 cm and the thickness is approximately 2.5 cm.

To make this jigsaw I firstly glued several pieces of wood together and when dry, cut it to a suitable size. I then sanded it to produce a smooth finish. The design was applied to the wood and cut using a Scroll Saw. The puzzle was then assembled and disassembled to ensure that all the pieces fitted together smoothly. Each piece was lightly sanded all around to give them a slight round over effect. It was then coated in Danish Oil and buffed to a smooth finish.
I am a firm believer in upcycling using reclaimed wood whenever possible. I often recycle the packaging I send out my items in.
I class this puzzle as an ornament, however this can be used as a jigsaw. Children should be supervised by an adult at all times.
