Black-winged Stilt Reflecting
While in the Chewore South territory in northern Zimbabwe in late June 2022, I spent a couple of days enjoying some R & R on the Zambezi River. One early morning, this black-winged stilt appeared in the shallows. I was standing on the raised bank almost directly overhead, which made for an ideal vantage point. At first glance, its wings appear a dense black, but they catch the light with a beautiful blue-green sheen. Its long pink legs seem slightly incongruous, adding a quirky elegance to its appearance.
The painting size is 20 x 16 x 0.5 inches or 50.5 x 40.5 x 1.5 cm.
The painting is varnished with a matte artist’s varnish.
The sides of the canvas are white, and the work is ready to hang with fittings attached.
A Certificate of Authenticity, signed by myself, accompanies each original..
