This warm, orange-red stone is a variety of Chalcedony, a member of the Quartz family.
Used as an adornment by man for over 4,500 years, this stone has come to symbolise health, luck and royalty.
It was prescribed by ancient healers to 'invigorate the blood'.
It is considered a birthstone for July and Cancer, as an alternative to Ruby.

Full description
As a centrepiece to this bright and colourful necklace, I have added a 12mm, translucent Czech glass coin pendant, with dark purple-black, orange and yellow stripes.
The disc is set between a trio of 4mm beads - dark orange-red carnelian, Swarovski 'smoked topaz' crystal and light grey Agate.
The necklace is made up of 6mm, frosted, burnt orange Carnelian and 6mm light grey Jade, 4mm beads of light grey Agate, dark orange-red Carnelian and paler yellow-orange Carnelian.
More 'smoked topaz' Swarovski crystals and some 7x6mm Tibetan spacer beads add sparkle and shine to the piece.
The Tibetan-style spacers have an antique gold finish and are nickel and lead free, as is the toggle clasp.
This summery necklace measures approximately 17 inches (43cm).
