PLEASE NOTE
I AM UPDATING PRODUCT BOXES FOR JEWELLERY AND DECORATIONS WHICH WILL TAKE AWHILE, IF YOU PURCHASE YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR ORDER IN THE NEW BOXES AS DESCRIBED BELOW.
Jewellery boxes are made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Jewellery box inserts are made from tall oil, a by-product of wood pulp industry. All paper, card, glue, inks and delivery boxes used are made from recycled materials.
I love collecting things discarded, lost, forgotten, damaged or just not wanted any more. My favourite places are rivers and beaches, but also find great things at recycling centres and charity shops. I’m lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-created into something new. Bits and bobs of lives all waiting to find new homes.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.
Additional terms
Shards Hand crafted Jewellery and framed artworks using pre loved and discarded ceramics. Ceramic material will show signs of wear and damage. Entire process is a creative experience from discovery to final picture, nothing planned or preconceived. All materials personally collected from river banks, charity shops, roadside, woods, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each titled piece comes with a short bio of where the ceramic came from, known history, original information and when the artwork was created. Some ceramics collected are used as found, while others are cut randomly which will shape the final picture. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.

Created from ceramic discovered in
Charity Shop Ilkley, West Yorkshire March 2022
Re-Created into Earrings March 2022
I visited Ilkley a lovely spa town in West Yorkshire where I found many interesting pieces of ceramic in the charity shops. Some were rescue plates from odds and ends boxes, cracked or badly damaged and others were stand out pieces, slightly damaged and perfect for a new project.
I found two side plates with lovely green and white flower pattern around the rim. The green is a soft tone and the plates really stood out from everything else. Unfortunately not all the pattern survived the process of clipping to create jewellery, the ceramic split in ways I didn’t expect. However, I’ve managed to make a few pairs of earrings, all from the same colours and pattern but all unique and one of a kind.
These drop earrings are big and slightly curved, made from the lip of the plate. Sanded and sealed backs and edges, similar in shape, design and size but completely individual.
The idea is to create some new from old, the finished item isn’t meant to be perfect or highly polished. Instead, retain its original character including scratches and marks.
Delivered in recycled packaging and includes gift box and short bio.
