Full description
Oh what a glorious thing to bee! An original hand painted 6 piece set of wooden nesting dolls, featuring well-loved British birds and a big, beautiful bee.
This small and quirky design features a Little Owl with distinctive yellow eyes, peering out from under bushy, feathery brows. The little owl measures 13cm tall by 6.5cm wide.
Inside the owl is a male bullfinch with his very stylish rose and grey colouration. He measures 9cm tall by 4.5cm wide.
The bullfinch is signed on the base by the artist.
A little nuthatch is hiding inside the bullfinch. The nuthatch measures 6cm tall by 3.5cm wide.
Inside the nuthatch you will find a tiny Goldcrest, one of our smallest British birds. This dinky goldcrest measures 4cm tall by 2cm wide which is close to life sized!
Next a big fluffy-bummed bee, painted with great attention to detail and measuring 2.5cm tall by 1.25cm wide.
Last is a tiny caterpillar and this one would transform into a beautiful swallowtail butterfly and measures 1.5cm long by 0.5cm fat.
Please note that whilst I have tried to be as accurate as possible, all measurements are approximate.
Each creature has been given at least 2 coats of Windsor and Newton satin acrylic varnish to protect the paint. These original, one-off designs are hand painted and the brush marks are easily detected, creating a unique and occasionally textured surface.
Due to small parts this item is not suitable for children.
