Clara is a circus performer who's routine involves her training swans she then takes on stage with her.
Her outfits reflect her love of animals and the water she trains in.
This piece is inspired by my love of vintage circus performers, fairy tales and the old illustrations that accompany them as well as books such as The Night Circus.

Full description
This piece was inspired by antique boudoir dolls. Whenever I make a doll I like to imagine a little story that goes along with it, I may draw extras such as props or scenes that go with a piece.
I wanted to make one of my art dolls but larger in size I love the way the piece sits.I designed and hand drew the pattern making her larger in the hips and taller than my usual doll,
She has legs, with are hand stitched into a fold so she can sit with her legs straight out or folded down.
She is made using vintage fabrics and linens including some of my collection I was gifted from an old theatre and circus seamstress.
She has white embroidered linens over her body,
Embellished with hand stitched vintage crystals and beading.
Her skirt and bustle are hand stitched using more vintage fabrics,
I aged the edges and then rubbed them in a tiny bit of dyes as I like my materials to look worn and Primitive.
Her boots have mother of pearl buttons, she has a small handmade crown topped with lace and vintage pearlescent adornments.
Her shawl is a vintage hand made crochet piece with tiny swans on,
She has a hand dyed and painted Swan wrapping around her dress.
Her face is needlesculpted with hand painted features. Her hair is hand stitched in nettle fibre.
She measures Aprox 38 inches in length and 23 inches height when sitting
She comes with a small papier mache Swan finished with tiny pieces of vintage embroidered linen and topped with glitter.
