While living in Wiltshire, I often used to walk the downs, which served as inspiration for much of my work. This particular day was stormy; a steely sky & the threat of squalls. Then I noticed a crow watching from a thorn tree. it didn`t move the whole time I passed. With my love of mythology & folklore, it really sparked my imagination & when I got home I wrote a poem, letting my imagination run riot. The poem then led to a series of three lino cut illustrations, of which this is the third.
This is an extract from the poem:
I expected him to fly at the first crack of thunder,
But his one-eyed challenge does not waver.........
As the storm passes, he rises, spiralling, and is gone.
