Eating with wooden items is so much more enjoyable than their metal and plastic counterparts. They function so well with every meal, and can even be used to stir and serve food if needed. I love carving spoons like this, as wood is such a rewarding material and environmentally friendly. Plus the tree gets to live on after it has come down for whatever reason. The sycamore used for this spoon originated from a tree approx 100years old, so very much something to perpetuate! Spoons make a wonderful treat for yourself or another.

Full description
A hand carved, Sycamore wood eating spoon with milk paint handle. The sycamore wood looks great with the tavern green milk paint and to add a bit of bling, there’s a little gold ball finial in acrylic paint (the decoration at the end of the handle. The symmetrical head is perfect for left/right handers- for shovelling every last bit of food!
The spoon has been made from a freshly cut log, taken to its final shape using traditional methods- splitting the log firstly into a 'blank', drawing on a rough shape before axing out and then finalising the shape using an array of knives. This leaves beautiful cut facets which mean no sanding is required. After drying, the spoon receives a final shaping by knife, before the handle is painted. The spoon is then burnished using a smooth Scottish pebble leaving a silky feeling to the wood. Finally the wood is sealed using organic food grade linseed oil.
This eating spoon makes a wonderful daily use item and is perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It travels well with you too! Treat yourself or a friend to something that will be loved, used and grow old with them. With use, wooden spoons like this develop a lovely aged patina.
Spoon care- Hand wash using soap and water and leave to air dry. Avoid long soaks in water and never wash in a dishwasher.
Your spoon will be dispatched to you in recycled, eco-friendly and plastic-free packaging. This can be put into composting or your paper recycling bin.
