I liked this pattern because of the different stitches used and also is a hat that fastens, keeping it on the head.

Full description
This baby's helmet is hand knitted in a soft baby yarn. The main part of the hat is worked in moss stitch and it has a blocked rib band round the bottom. The earflaps are worked in a double rib and it fastens under the chin with a button. It has a pompom on the top.
The yarn is 55% nylon 45% acrylic and is machine washable.
The pattern size is for a 0-6mth old. The circumference is 36cm.
Please note that the hat looks darker in the photos. It is more of a baby blue.
