Andersonstown looks a little different now these barracks have been torn down as part of the peace process.
This was initially created as a commission for a military museum but the circumstances changed so I kept it for you.

Full description
This is an original A3 sized detailed pencil drawing of a British Security Forces vehicle on patrol in Andersonstown,Northern Ireland during the late 1980s.
These vehicles were only lightly armoured and offered some protection but not much for the soldiers within them.
The vehicle was a lot safer than the Snatch Land Rover but was only really used in high threat urban areas of the province such as Belfast,L/Derry and parts of North Armagh.
Andersonstown is an area of West Belfast that has a predominantly nationalist population and has seen it’s fair share of sadness and misery due to terrorism. The drawing is positioned outside the main Sanger of the local police station and looks directly down on a religious statue on a small roundabout. The police station no longer exists although the statue does.
The drawing has been protected with smudge proofing and will be posted in a stiff cardboard tube, lined with tissue paper for added protection.
