Full description
This listing is for a beautiful lavish set of large ornate Staunton Chess pieces (Board not supplied). The pieces are painted old chess set antique metallic effect gold and silver and are incredibly detailed as you can see from the photographs.
This chess set has a collection of chess pieces that are a nice size with the king being 11.5 cm tall with a 3.5 cms wide base and the Pawns being 6cms tall with a 2.5cm wide base.
This set is a total pleasure to play with.
The stature of the chess set is impressive.
This is one of my favorite chess sets as its baroque style of design is tastefully rendered creating a sumptuous elegant display of Wow!!
This Chess set stands out and is sure to be a talking point with visitors as it really has some serious presence and a definite touch of class! It has the presence and character of an antique old chess set.
The pieces are cold cast in reconstructed stone and delicately hand painted to give the aged metallic effect you can see in the photographs.
Whilst the casting I use material is very robust and enhanced with an acrylic polymer to strengthen it, care should always be taken when handling the pieces. The chess set is a collection of castings and if handled with care will last a lifetime, however as with all earthenware they are not impervious to wear and tear and can break or chip if bumped or dropped onto a tiled floor for example.
