I think the markings and colours on mackerel are gorgeous, and the way a shoal darts dynamically through the water inspired this design.

Full description
These long drop earrings have a background of sea green with a shoal of mackerel darting across, a snapshot of local marine wildlife.
As with all my jewellery they are made and decorated entirely by hand.
After forming the drops from fine white clay, I imprint the designs. When dry, I sand the sides and back, round off the corners to ensure they are super smooth to the touch. They then have their first firing. Next I paint them using under-glazes and apply a transparent glaze before firing again to earthenware. The ceramic is glazed all over so is very smooth whilst retaining the texture of the imprinted design. The result is a pleasantly tactile item.
The ear wires are sterling silver.
This is a one-off listing, the earrings in the photographs are the actual pair you will receive.
The ceramic drops are about 10mm (about third of an inch) across and 38mm (one and a half inches) long, and the total length including the rings is 43mm, nearly two inches
All my jewellery comes in a hand-stamped box.
