Sheep are very symbolic in and of Wales, and almost every Welsh artist has created their own interpretation of one of our most loved icons.

My own family on my fathers side hail from a long line of hardy Llyn Peninsula farmers. Sheep were incredibly valuable in their lives, until around two generations ago when mining promised more wealth and less hardships. The tradition of farming in my family was lost to coal.

In some small way, these little characters are my tribute to my family, to my Welsh heritage

Full description

GLADYS - “princess”

A ceramic sheep made in a white earthenware clay, and glazed with a glossy speckled ivory body and iron oxide head.

These little ornaments have been made using a pinch pot technique, and are hollow, with a textured body.

Each sheep has been given a traditional Welsh name, and comes with a small description tag giving the meaning behind that name.

They measure approximately 8cm in diameter.

Designed by Ceri Andrews in Vale of Glamorgan
