Item details

I'm selling off some of my collection of unusual beads to make some space in my workshop, so if you love beads, please take a look

These beads have a very special character of their own because they are made by hand in individual moulds. I like the way there is blue in the brown beads and brown in the blue beads.

This item will be posted to you by The Curious Bead Company within 3 days of receiving payment.

Full description

There is a tradition of bead making in Africa that goes back centuries and these sand glass beads are made in the traditional way with the addition of coloured recycled glass. They are smaller than average and there is a mix of blue and brown ones, both with white circle patterns. Matching European blue glass round beads have been added so that they hang more evenly, as the African tube beads are often cut on the slant and the way that they are made (using banana leaf stems to make the holes) mean that the holes don't always go straight down the middle.

Set: A matching bracelet is also available.

Size: The necklace is 18.5" long - a popular length for women.

One of a Kind: When you wear this necklace you will be wearing a collection of tiny works of art - and you won't see another one quite like it.

Presentation: Your necklace will be sent in tissue and a presentation bag, inside a mailing box.

Gifts: I can send to another address and include a handwritten message if requested.

Postage: I can usually post within 24 hours and postage is free.

Environment: All of my outer packaging is either recycled or reusable.
