This piece was a true labour of love. I wanted it to be a piece of multiple techniques combined and I'm so pleased with the result. Colouring the ground was an unknown outcome as so often is with mixed media. Splashing down drops of colour only to know what the finish will look like when it's dried out. I felt my sketched hare illustration would work well with the colouring, then it was to decide what else I should add in terms of pyrographing to finish the piece off. The scene I've tried to capture is of a hare within its form/den surrounded by plants and foliage found with a moorland hill. The hare itself originates from a hand drawn illustration that has been made into a 'screen' for printing.
This would make a beautiful gift for nature lovers, bringing the countryside indoors. The box is large enough for photos, small paint pots for example whilst still being quite light weight.
I hope you'll get as much pleasure from this piece as I did creating it.

This is truly a beautifully unique box, that has been decorated using a variety of mixed media and techniques combined.
The box itself has been coloured using ink to create is unusual ground, the hare has been screen printed onto the lid in a black ink and finally the plants and leaf work have all been burnt into the wood using traditional Pyrography techniques. On the lid the hare is surrounded by grass and cow parsley plants silhouetted motifs. Fern leaves decorate the lid around the edge, framing the scene. The grass and cow parsley design continues around the base of the box on all sides. The hare and silhouette tone of the pyrographed motifs stand out well against the ground of green shades.
Box size- apr 25 x 19.7cm and 10cm in height. It has a hindeg lid a metal fastening at the front in an antique gold tone. The inside of the box has been left untouched.
Due to the size and value of the box it will be posted as UK Signed for delivery.
