I am never one to pass up free raw materials and some bottles are such a great shape that it seems a crime to just smash them up for recycling. You may well recognise which sparkling drink comes in this lovely tapering bottle.
To create this recycled bottle vase, I cut the top off at an angle which complements the unusual tapering shape and ground it smooth, then sandblasted the surface, leaving clear a couple of butterflies flitting through the tall grass before sealing the surface with a protective coating.

This eye-catching green glass vase was once an elegantly shaped bottle full of a sparkling elderflower drink, far too good to end up in the bottle bank - so I rescued it and turned it into a vase.
This bottle green glass vase would be a lovely accent piece for a windowsill where the light will shine through the design, but look just as good filled with your favourite flowers - I particularly like mine filled with daffodils in the Spring.
Sandblasted recycled bottle green glass vase, handmade by me in my home studio on the Wirral peninsula, NW England.
DIMENSIONS: The vase base is 9cm (3.5") in diameter, narrowing to 5.5cm (2.25") at the top, and 17cm (7") tall.
CARE: The frosted finish is permanently etched into the glass and has a protective coating to resist finger marks. I advise gentle handwashing and wiping with a microfibre cloth to retain the protective surface coating; do not put this vase in the dishwasher as over time this will dull the surface.
Unique vase, number BGL5.
