Whilst sorting through my mountain of vintage fabrics I stumbled across a pile of Damask curtains and off cuts.
They have been waiting for me to turn them into something new for an age.
In the corner of the room I spied a box of vintage picture frames that I have collected over the years.
Then boom a flash of inspiration, there’s a few doodles of girls sitting in one of my sketchbooks just waiting to show themselves to the world.
That’s exactly how this piece of textile art came into being !

Full description

This lovely little lady is called Verity.

Verity has been waiting for what seems like an age to leap out of my sketchbook realise her full potential.

She would love to hang on your wall or maybe you have a special friend that would love Verity as a gift.

I have hand embroidered Verity on a beautiful piece of 1930’s russet jacquard fabric, which used to be my Grandmother’s cushion covers when I was a little girl.

I have created the little 3D deep red rose in her hair using a spider web wheel, with vintage Anchor and DMC threads.

In the traditional manner I have laced and stretched this piece of textile art over acid free mount board then framed in a gold vintage frame without glass as it distorts the stitches.

The frame measures 21cm x 16cm and is 2cm deep.

Without the frame this textile piece measures 16.5cm x 11.5cm.

Being vintage the frame may have a few scuffs and scratches. Personally I think this adds to its charm.

This piece of wall art has been created completely from vintage materials making it a real one off piece.

As this piece is totally unique I will send Royal Mail First Class signed for.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, if you have a moment please take a look around my shop, you may spot a few more of my girls.

Thanks

Mama Bea x
