Whilst sorting through my mountain of vintage fabrics I stumbled across a pile of Damask curtains and off cuts.
They have been waiting for me to turn them into something new for an age.
In the corner of the room I spied a box of vintage picture frames that I have collected over the years.
Then boom a flash of inspiration, there’s a few doodles of girls sitting in one of my sketchbooks just waiting to show themselves to the world.
That’s exactly how this piece of textile art came into being !

Meet Stella !
Stella has been waiting patiently in my sketchbook to be turned from a pencil doodle into a piece of textile art.
She thinks she would be the ideal gift for your vintage loving friend to hang on their wall or maybe you’d like to keep Stella for yourself.
I have carefully hand stitched her on a piece of of 1950’s pale yellow Damask fabric, using various embroidery stitches. I have decorated her bow with candy pink seed stitches and used chain stitch on her top.
I have used vintage DMC and Anchor threads to create this embroidery art from a massive hoard I was fortunate to find many moons ago.
This hand embroidered piece has been laced and stretched over acid free mount board in the traditional manner, then framed in a little gold and black vintage frame without glass as it distorts the stitches.
The frame measures 17cm x 12cm and is 1.5cm deep.
Without the frame this piece of textile art measures 15cm x 10cm approximately.
As the frame is vintage it has a few scratches and scuffs. Personally I think they add to its charm.
This piece of hand embroidered wall art has been created from true vintage materials making it a one off piece.
As this piece is totally unique I will send Royal Mail First Class signed for.
