Ever since I was a child, I've associated picking lavender with summer, in the same way as I think of strawberries and cream or sandcastles on the beach. I can clearly remember helping to strip the tiny flowers off the stalks, thinking what a fiddly job it was, and can keenly remember the smell of lavender in the house for hours afterwards. Making lavender bags today carries on the same tradition and the lavender fragrance in the winter is a gorgeous reminder of summer days.
I've collected blue and white striped Cornishware pottery for at least twenty years since I first picked up a little jug at a car boot sale. The jug lives on my dresser and is filled with flowers during the summer months. I was looking for a gift idea for a friend so on a rainy afternoon I decided to try to replicate the jug in blue and white fabric and add a message. This orange version would make a lovely addition to an autumnal display, and, as each one is hand embroidered, no two are ever the same!

SAMPLE A choice of two personalised lavender bags featuring a hand-appliqued orange stripy jug motif filled with embroidered flowers. These lavender bags are samples that I made for Halloween last year and are available with the following choice of wording:
'Happy Halloween' or 'Boo'; simply state your preference at the checkout.

The jug has been created from hand-cut strips of orange and white fabric and stitched together, and then I have added hand-embroidered flowers to the design using embroidery silks. The finishing touch is a brown and cream gingham vintage style striped ribbon for hanging in your wardrobe; or simply pop in a drawer to fragrance your clothes. Filled with new polyester wadding and a goodly handful of English lavender picked from my own garden in Norfolk.

Each bag measures approx. 10cm x 7cm
Your lavender bag will be wrapped in tissue paper (or I like to recycle sewing patterns) and sent by Royal Mail 1st class post.
