A seagull sitting on a 'rock' waiting for a food opportunity to pass by..... Love them or loath them, they are a part of the English seaside. Here's one that's a little quieter than the normal screaming version, he's obviously already eaten your left overs!
Designed and handmade by me in my home studio in Cheshire, England.
This sculpture measures 12.5 cm tall and is 23.5 cm in width. The base of the wood is 7.5 cms deep. A UK 20p piece is shown next to it for scale.
I start each new design from sketches made from life. Each seagull is unique and is made from many pieces of hand cut Bullseye Glass. After cutting and collating the glass is fired in a kiln. This gull is mounted on a very 'rocky' piece of driftwood collected from the local beaches in the NW of England. Each piece is unique and this one is very natural!
