in 2017 I had an artist residency in Exeter LIbrary Rare Book Collection. In this collection was beautiful copy of the life of the honey bee. The illustrations in the book were wonderful and I made a clay 3d relief sculpture of the drawings in the book. I then made a plaster cast of the sculpture and cast it in glass. once cast the mould is broken up to reveal the sculpture, so these are all one off pieces.
I have this back from exhibition now and it can find its forever home.

Lovely one off relief sculpture of a worker bee in honey yellows and ambers.. This is made with crushed, recycled, yellow and amber glass, packed into a plaster mould. I cast this from my own clay sculpture. Once the piece has been through the kiln I break away the plaster mould and cold work the little sculpture so it is polished and smooth edged.
The sculpture has been attached to glass and placed in a wooden frame to be hung against a white wall, or in a sunny window.
