The wild character of the Peak District with its windswept moors, rugged gritstone tors and escarpments provides a welcome escape from our towns and cities, a vital space to breathe and reflect. My work is inspired by the sketches I make and the photos I take while I'm walking there. I often go back to the same places, trying to capture the energy and changing mood of the landscape, whatever the season.
Spending time reconnecting with nature is key to our mental and physical well-being. With my art, I want you to be able to bring a little bit of the quiet drama of the moors into your home, to remind you of the calm and happiness that you find there.

Over Owler Tor
Unframed A3 original, graphite and watercolour on paper.
Expressive painting inspired by Over Owler Tor from the west (Hathersage, Derbyshire) side. Over Owler Tor is an impressive millstone grit outcrop near Sheffield. It is located close to Burbage and the Surprise View on Hathersage Moor in the Dark Peak area of the Peak District National Park. I have used earthy yellow and brown tones and energetic lines to give this piece a blustery, autumnal feel.
A meaningful gift for a hiker with links to Sheffield and the Hope Valley who appreciates the beauty of the moody mountain and moorland landscapes of the Peak District, or perhaps a treat for yourself.
This is a large original using graphite and watercolour blocks on 300gsm smooth watercolour paper.
