I love the abstractness of clouds and the sense of calm they bring, they are a wonderful form of meditation to me, to contemplate without thinking, to just watch and absorb. They constantly change and move on, but can be so vast and all-encompassing.
I live in-between the Pennines and Lake District in Cumbria and am always watching the clouds shifting and changing over the hills. The Pennines come right up to my house and I'm constantly sketching and taking pictures of the clouds from my window.
This painting is the view from Cumwhitton Park near where I live in Cumbria, a beautiful sunny day with clouds billowing over a newly ploughed field.
