I came across an old tree stump in a park close to where I live that had all kinds of mushroom and moss growing on it. It was fascinating and beautiful so I took a few photos and painted them when I got home. This little mushroom was in a group of four of this type growing on the tree stump. I love autumn and mushrooms and moss so I loved every minute of embroidering this brooch.

Full description
A textile art brooch made with wool felt and hand embroidery. The mushroom has been embroidered to be full of stitchy texture using four different coloured threads and is growing out of a patch of lush green moss that is made of millions (OK, maybe not millions, but a lot) of french knots. The french knots create a lovely texture for the moss and the two different greens used add depth. I have added a few dots of deep red thread to give a sense of the colours of autumn and falling leaves.
I have embroidered directly onto a piece of light grey wool felt and backed that onto a thick piece of wool felt to make the brooch sturdy.
The mushroom brooch is made from 100% wool felt and has a silver coloured brooch back attatched.
All of my brooches come attached to a decorative card as you can see in the last photo.
