I have always been fascinated by the day of the dead celebrations in South America. And the sugar skull in their many forms is a great reminder of this thought provoking festival. Bright and cheerful they are placed out as gifts to loved ones.

This brooch is handmade and designed by myself using a technique I have been developing. The clay is a dark chocolate terracotta with a white inlay that is then hand painted with under glaze. It has a clear glaze that make the colours more vibrant and rich.
