Textile artwork entitled 'Down By the Riverside' by Heidi Meier. This original handcrafted textile artwork from Heidi Meier has been previously exhibited and is now available for general sale.
This artwork is created using raw edge applique techniques and embroidered with freemotion machine embroidery, which is where you use a sewing machine needle like a pencil to draw patterns and shapes in thread. As well as the freestyle embroidered aspect, there are also hand embroidered elements such as the cow parsley flowers, which are worked in french knots to give added texture.
Other details of the picture include a serene swan, a bright splash of foxgloves on the far side of the riverbank and a myriad of colourful small flowers hidden among the grasses.
This artwork also featured hand dyed fabrics (dyed by myself using cold water dyes) to give it a lovely cohesive colour palette.
- The textile embroidery is square and measures 11 inches (or 28cm).
- It is framed with a quality solid oak frame which gives it a hanging size of 15.75 inches (40cm) square.
- The cream conservation mount is acid-free.
This design is also available as a giclee print (to fit a frame 16 by 12 inches) and a blank greetings card.
