Full description
This dish is 86mm in diameter, 18mm deep.
I have built up several base coats of clear enamel over which I have then laid a coat of red. This allows the copper base of the dish to show through in tones of golden brown. On the red coat I have put rods of turquoise, white and bright yellow enamel and then drawn a steel tip through these while the dish was in the kiln at red hot, making a unique, random, swirling pattern. The enamel is not so molten it will flow easily and as it cools while I have the kiln door open it will set smooth but unevenly. This gives a degree of texture to the piece which adds an effect to the play of light on it.
