I got the idea in my mind of a patchwork ring. Was going to make a rainbow but it evolved as a red hot sun spot.
Maybe I'll make a rainbow version next.

This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
A brand new design for a hot day in Summer 2015. My interpreation of a hot sun spot or even a great ball of fire.
I have cut the 25 individual pieces from red, amber and yellow shades of glass, using a mixture of different textures and shades. I've then fitted them together as a patchwork ball.
The piece at the centre is red mirrored glass so will reflect movement in front of it..
The outer edge is framed with twisted wire for strength and neatness.
It is 6 inches in diameter and hangs from a silver coloured little chain which is securely attached to the top of the ring.
.It looks wonderful hanging in the window, catching the sun.
This item is absolutely unique. I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass.
All photos are of this piece as the first I've made of this design.
