Scarab beetle jewellery was popular in ancielnt egypt and seen as a symbol of regeneration and I thought it would be fun to design a brooch in pewter with one on!

Full description
This scarab beetle brooch with gold and green stone is handmade made from lead-free pewter.
I draw my design on to the pewter which I then raise and define using a boxwood tool. The next stage is mounting the stones(they are not stuck on top but set in) . The raised design is then filled and left to harden, mounted on to a base and patinated and finally polished. This pewter does not tarnish like silver but can be buffed up if necessary with a silver cloth or wadding.
The brooch measures 45mm in diameter and has a 25mm safety clasp on the back.
