Full description

I have always wanted to design a big flower on a cushion and the Rose was the most obvious flower to choose. There is a large coloured intarsia chart to follow to knit the rose and it is recommended that yarn bobbins are used for the different colours as it avoids the yarn tangling. I have knitted the rose in 3 shades of pink, but you could use other colours to reflect the wonderful range of roses that are available.

The cushion is knitted in Stockinette Stitch and is knitted in one piece. There is a 4 button opening at the back. Instructions are given for knitting 4 rose buds to form buttons.

Materials – All Double Knitting yarn

3- 50 gram balls Black (approx. 426 meters/470 yards)

1 - 50 gram ball of each colour for the rose – light pink, mid pink and dark pink

Small amount of 2 colours of green for the leaves

Any yarn supplier can be used for Double Knitting yarn that knits to the following tension:

Tension

22 sts and 28 rows to 10 cm (4 in) over stocking stitch on 4 mm needles

Suggested yarns to use:

Sirdar Country Style DK, Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK, King Cole Dollymix DK, Patons Fab DK, Rico Essentials Merino DK, Patons Diploma Gold DK

1 pair of 4 mm (UK8 - USA6) and 1 pair of 3.25 mm (UK10 - USA3) knitting needles, yarn bobbins

There is no postage associated with this item.

The pattern will be e-mailed to you as a pdf file.
