One of my critter plant pots.
All made by hand, formed from a wonderful stoneware speckled clay, these little planters are created from pinch pots, to which I add the legs, ears and eventually, after a little drying out, the face. Incised with mark making tools and painted with porcelain slip.
Once bisque fired I wash over the marks with underglaze, then use the gorgeous treackly and shiny tenmoku glaze to pick out the nose, eyes and inner ears.
Fired to stoneware temperatures, this little planter can live indoors or out, but there are no drainage holes so watch out for waterlogging if exposed to heavy rain.
Due to the handmade nature these planters are all unique and vary from those in the image-sizes are approximate, internal dimensions of pot holding part are 3 inches tall by 2 inches deep - fine for a small succulent.
