Item details

I knitted one of these Alan Dart 'Natural Nativities' to raffle at my Dad's Church fete a few years ago and I loved it so much, I started knitting more!
You'll see in my shop that I sell the original natural nativity and a small coloured version where I've also adapted the pattern to make the characters smaller.
This one is a limited edition of only two nativity sets, copied from my own, It's very fiddly to knit & takes a long time because of the extra characters and the adaptions to the pattern, but it's well worth the effort!!

Full description

This is the gorgeous Christmas 'Knitivity' that I have in my own home with all the main characters present - Mary & Joseph, the Baby Jesus and the donkey, the 3 Kings and their camels, the Shepherds with their flock and the Angel Gabriel.

The original design is taken from a pattern by the fabulous Alan Dart, but I have adapted it by snazzying the robes and head gear and adding little extras here & there, such as the shepherd's fleece, the sitting ram, the Kings' sparkling hats & gifts and the camels' blankets, using metallic yarn for the angel's winga and by stitching everything together rather than using glue which could decay over time.

The characters are about 14 cm tall with the animals ranging from about 8cm to 13 cm. I have mine on my side board in the dining room but this will make a lovely window sill decoration for Christmas (if it's long enough - this is quite a spread!). Not suitable as a toy due to the pipe cleaners in the legs and crooks.

The stable is simply a basket I bought in a local shop with bits of bamboo cane as props, simple to make!
