Rhodonite is such an interesting gemstone. Rose pink with black veins running through it - which gives the stone its peculiar mottled effect. Every rhodonite stone is different so if you value individuality, this gem is for you.
Even its history is unusual. Although its modern name comes from the Greek term “rhodos”, meaning "rose coloured”, it was originally known as “the Eagle Stone”. Discovered in the 1790’s in the Ural mountain, the local people noticed eagles in the region often carried small pieces of the stone to their nests. It soon became tradition to place small Rhodonite stones in babies’ cradles as protection from evil. These days Rhodonite is believed to promote emotional healing and is said to reduce stress, anxiety and anger.
