The stone at the centre of this piece is rather lovely, and the matte finish really draws out the colours well. Chrysocolla is one of the lesser known gemstones, but it is a fascinating mineral. It is sometimes confused with turquoise due to its color and its greasy vitreous luster. The name chyrsocolla comes from the Greek words for gold (chyrsos) and glue (kolla). It is a name that the Greeks applied to minerals used for soldering gold, but the term came to be used to refer to various green copper-bearing minerals.
The colours of the stone reminded me of the jewellery and other artwork we saw a few years ago on a trip to Egypt, so the simple banding and shape of the collar seemed a natural choice.

Full description

Was £75 now £60

A large Chrysocolla cabochon captured in a peyote bezel and mounted on a curved herringbone band. The Chrysocolla has an unusual matte finish, and is backed with black ultrasuede. The hand beadwoven bezel uses turquoise, terracotta and gold Miyuki delica beads. The gently curving necklace sits neatly at the base of the neck, and is made of the same colour range of Miyuki seed beads in a variety of sizes (to give the natural curve). A gold coloured magnetic clasp securely finishes the piece (please note that this is nickel free but not hypoallergenic).

The focal measures 50mm by 25mm, the necklace has an approximate diameter of 120mm, total length 360mm and width 15mm. A gift box is included. This item will be sent using Royal Mail 48hr Tracked & Signed (UK, exc NI) or Royal Mail International Tracked (US).
