Full description
A series of handmade porcelain brooches made by me in my Somerset studio.
Each one is made from a circle of porcelain which has been bisque fired. I then hand draw a little design onto the porcelain surface, colour with vibrant red and cool blue underglaze and then coat with a stoneware transparent glaze, turning the whole piece white and hiding the freshly drawn illustration. This will only be revealed again once fired for a second time, then the clay has been transformed into a strong glossy disc, the underglaze colours enriched by the glaze.
I use a white epoxy putty to attach the brooch pin.
Each brooch measures 35mm across.
As they are hand drawn they do all vary slightly. There are 4 designs to choose from:a red fox, a blue wolf, Robin with star, and Butterfly. Please specify when ordering which you would like.
